Screenprinting

Focus: Silk-screen making and printing with squeegee.

Content:

  • Artwork setup for print (vector vs raster, separations)
  • Film output and exposure calibration
  • Mesh counts and ink selection
  • Registration systems for accuracy
  • Print run management and quality control
  • Curing methods and durability testing

Outcome: Students will produce a poster and tote bag.

Print Finishing & Post-Production

Focus: Commercial finishing standards

Content:

  • Trimming and guillotining
  • Folding techniques
  • Binding basics (saddle stitch, perfect bind overview)
  • Cornering

Outcome: Student will learn how to professionally finish a printed product.

Colour Matching & Ink Mixing

Focus: Industry colour control

Content:

  • Pantone matching
  • Mixing ratios
  • Adjusting viscosity
  • Transparency and opacity control
  • Test prints and calibration

Outcome: Student will learn how to accurately colour-match and mix inks.

LP/05

Small-Batch, End-to-End Production

Focus: Simulating client commission

Students receive a mock brief (e.g. print 25 branded posters or packaging inserts).

  • Interpreting a brief
  • File checking
  • Material calculations
  • Time planning

  • Quality assurance review

Outcome: Students will learn to complete a batch meeting client specified criteria.
